Most lumps, bumps, cysts, moles and
birthmarks are present at birth or appear
and grow slowly. They generally range in
diameter from 5 to 100 mm. Immediate treatment:

When to
consult a doctor
As soon as possible when:
• A lump is found in the breast
• Any bleeding occurs
• The abnormality increases in size, spreads
or there are changes in surrounding skin
• Other similar abnormalities occur
• An open sore or alsa develops
• If the abnormality affects appearance or
daily living
Possible causes
The abnormality is normally identified by
its colour.
• Deep red, purple or blue raised areas
• Brown raised areas
• Raised areas the colour inflamed red or
with puss
• Coloured marks or stains not raised
