The most common form of headache originates
in the muscles of the scalp and the forehead
after periods of concentration, driving or
anxiety. Aching is in the back forehead over
the back of the head. This type of headache
is worst at the end of the day or with
mental fatigue, rarely lasts longer than an
hour or so and does not keep the sufferer
awake. There is no need to consult the
doctor. Some people suffer more from
headaches that others. Sometimes, however, a
headache can be caused by changes in the
circulation inside the skull.
Immediate treatment
• Rest in a darkened room
• Take pain killers in recommended doses.
When to consult
a doctor Immediately if:
• Headache and drowsiness follow head injury
• Very server headache starts suddenly
• There are no associated symptoms such as
visuals and disturbances
• Headache is associated with stiffness of
the neck or back
• If the headache is aggravated coughing or
moving or lowering the head and has
persisted for more than three days.
• If there is no satisfactory explanation
for a headache that is continuous or getting
worse after three days.
