Fever is very common with a wide variety of causes. When a patient has a fever it means that his body is fighting infection and that he needs rest and where appropriate anti-infective medicines. Normal temperature is 37 oc
Immediate treatment

  • Rest in a worm ( not hot) room
• Drink plenty of fluids
• Sponge the patient with tepid water if the patient id 4O oc

 When to consult a doctor
  • Immediately if baby has temperature over 40 oc
• If fever persist for more than three days
• If severe shacking, shivering and chattering of teeth occur with fever. This condition is called a rigor and should be reported because it suggests pneumonia, pyelonephritis and malaria.
