Nasal catarrh is a harmless but annoying
symptom that may be difficult to cure. It is
present for a few days in many infections of
the nose and sinuses.
Immediate treatment
• Nose blowing and
decongestive nasal drops may help at first,
but drops themselves cause catarrh if taken
for longer than ten days.
When to consult
a doctor
• If the blockage persists for longer than
two to four weeks.
• If the discharge is blood stained.
Possible causes
• Common cold and flue
• Sinusitis
• Rhinitis (chronic and allergic)
• Nasal polyps
